Deciding between the Distilled Collector's Cask and the Cocktails bundle? This guide breaks down the key differences in value, storage, and content to help you choose the right option for your collection.
Quick answer
For most players, the Distilled: Collector's Cask (with Cocktails) bundle offers the best value if you want the expansion and premium storage together. Choose the standalone Collector's Cask if you already own the Cocktails expansion or prefer to save money upfront.
What each option includes
The Distilled Collector's Cask (product ID 1730595) is the deluxe storage box alone, designed to hold the entire Distilled collection including the base game, all expansions, promos, sleeved cards, the premium market playmat, and the dice tumbler. It comes empty with three new storage trays, so you need the base game and three of its inserts to use it.
The Distilled: Collector's Cask (with Cocktails) bundle (product ID 1730594) packs the same Collector's Cask box together with the Cocktails expansion inside a dice tumbler. This bundle is pre-packed with foam protection, making it a convenient all-in-one purchase if you're starting fresh or upgrading your storage.
Value and price difference
The standalone Collector's Cask is priced at USD 34.49 (catalog comparison price USD 49.99), while the bundle with Cocktails costs USD 76.80 (catalog comparison price USD 120.00). The bundle effectively gives you the Cocktails expansion at a discount compared to buying both items separately, but only if you actually want the expansion.
If you already own the Cocktails expansion or don't plan to use it, the standalone cask is the more economical choice. The bundle's extra cost only makes sense if you need both the storage upgrade and the expansion content.
Storage capacity and limitations
Both products use the same Collector's Cask box, so the storage capacity is identical. The box fits sleeved cards and even holds the premium market playmat and dice tumbler. However, the standalone cask requires you to already have the base game and three inserts, while the bundle includes the Cocktails expansion packed inside.
Note that the standalone cask is empty aside from the three new storage trays. If you don't have the base game inserts, you'll need to source or purchase them separately. The bundle removes that extra step by including the expansion content directly.
Decision rules
- Do you need the Cocktails expansion?: If you don't own the Cocktails expansion and want to add it, the bundle saves you money compared to buying the cask and expansion separately. If you already have it, the standalone cask is the better deal.
- Do you have the base game inserts?: The standalone cask requires the base game and three of its inserts to function. If you don't have those, the bundle may be more practical because it includes the expansion content that can be used immediately. Check your current collection before choosing.
- What is your budget priority?: The standalone cask costs USD 34.49, while the bundle is USD 76.80. If your priority is storage and you can wait on the expansion, the cask alone is the budget-friendly option. If you want both storage and new gameplay, the bundle offers better overall value. Consider your immediate gaming needs.
